India's primary sector employs the vast majority of the workforce.
The primary sector of the economy, which makes up more than half of the workforce but only makes up about a sixth of the GDP, is dominated by agriculture. Around 48% of the total workforce is employed in the primary sector alone. A high workforce with less productivity causes disguised unemployment. When a person works less than their potential, it is known as "disguised unemployment." It is generally found in the agriculture sector, where more people work on a single piece of land than required. These are unskilled laborers who are not able to get employment in secondary and tertiary sectors.
