Black soil is the most suitable for growing cotton, as it is made up of extremely fine clayey material well-known for its capacity to hold moisture. This soil contains calcium carbonate, magnesium, potash, and lime. This soil also develops deep cracks during hot weather conditions that help proper aeration of the soil. Black soil is formed from the solidified lava rocks in the Deccan plateau region. The ancient basaltic volcanic eruption happened, and lava flows covered thousands of kilometres once, when cooled, solidified into basaltic rocks.
