Detailed Solution

Galvanic cell is a type of electrochemical cell that converts chemical energy to electrical energy.

In a galvanic cell, two electrodes are present in the solution of chemical species. One electrode is an anode which negatively charged and here the species release electrons and gets converted to a cation. Another electrode is the cathode which is positively charged. Here the species accept electrons and gets converted to an anion.

The electrons flow starts from the anode and moves towards the cathode.

So, oxidation occurs at the anode and reduction occurs at the cathode.
