Detailed Solution

Aluminum chloride (AlCl3) easily undergoes hydrolysis because of the high hydration energy of Al3+. AlCl3 forms aluminum hydroxide and HCl, when comes in contact with water. This produced HCl produces white fumes when comes in contact with air.

AlCl3+3H2OAl(OH)3+3HClWhite fumes

AlCl3 is an electron-deficient because Al has an incomplete octet, therefore in a vapor state and non-polar solvents, it exists as Al2Cl6 where Al of one AlCl3 forms a dative bond with Cl of another AlCl3, where Cl shares its electron pair in the dative bond formation.

AlCl3 also forms when the aluminum oxide is heated with sulfur chloride and chlorine gas.

This indicates that the given statements are correct.
