Glucagon is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas and plays a crucial role in regulating blood glucose levels. The role of glucagon in the body is to keep blood glucose levels from falling too low. It accomplishes this by stimulating the conversion of stored glycogen ( stored in the liver) to glucose, which can then be released into the bloodstream. This process is called Glycogenolysis.

Glucagon does not decrease the conversion of glycogen into glucose, slow down glucose formation from lactic acid, or accelerate protein synthesis within cells. Therefore, other options are incorrect.
