RNA is less stable than DNA because it is single stranded, has reactive ribose sugar and relatively less stable uracil. Due to modifications in ribose sugar there is formation of deoxyribose, uracil is methylated to form thymine and single stranded nature became double stranded with the formation of complementary strand. Hence DNA has evolved from RNA.
