In ETS of respiration, each NADH oxidation forms 3 ATP due to chemiosmosis of 10 protons and each FADH2 oxidation forms 2 ATP due to chemiosmosis of 6 protons.

(1) Oxidation reduction reactions of ETS establish proton gradient by pumping protons from matrix to intermembrane space of mitochondrion through complex I, ubiquinone, complex III and complex IV. 

(2) During aerobic respiration, oxygen is involved in the last step of ETS for the formation of water by getting protons of matrix through complex IV and getting electrons from CuB of complex IV.

(4) ATP are formed in ATP synthase or F1 due to movement of protons from intermembrane space to matrix of mitochondrion through F0 of F particle
