Detailed Solution

Somatic embryos are diploid, as they are developed from a diploid somatic cell. A microspore (n) is haploid. Hence, diploid embryos cannot be obtained from microspores.

(1) All the stages of somatic embryogenesis are similar to normal sexual embryogenesis.

(3) Auxins like 2,4-D and cytokinin are used to promote cell division and organogenesis.

(4) Since, somatic embryos (2n) are developed from a somatic cell (2n), they are also called as asexual embryos or embryoids.
