Detailed Solution

Nepal witnessed an extraordinary popular movement in April 2001. This statement is not true about Nepal.
The Movement for Democracy in Nepal was a popular movement which started in 2006 when the new King Gyanendra dissolved the democratic government. The movement started with the aim of regaining popular control over the government from the king or reinstating the democratic government. The movement was led by the Seven Alliance Party (SPA), an alliance of all major parties of Nepal. The people of Nepal showed active participation in the strikes and protests. The SPA put demands for the restoration of parliament, power to an all-party government, and a new constituent assembly. On 24th April, King Gyanendra admitted to all the needs of SPA. Girija Prasad Koirala was selected as the interim government's new prime minister. This popular movement of 2006 was called Nepal’s second movement for democracy.
