National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) is Indian labour law and social security measure that aims to guarantee the ‘right to work. It is the law that guarantees employment to people living in rural India. This act was passed in September 2005, and In 2006, it was finally accepted in the parliament. The objective of NREGA 2005 is to implement the right-to-work law in 200 districts. It aims to enhance livelihood security in the rural areas by providing at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. This law helps people willing to work and in need of a job. It also says, if the government is unable to provide employment, employment allowance shall be given to the people.
