Jammu and Kashmir had its own Constitution.
The Indian Constitution had given unique liberated status to Jammu and Kashmir. However, various provisions of the Indian Constitution did not apply to Jammu and Kashmir without the approval of the State Assembly. While in India, every citizen can hold single citizenship, the people of Jammu Kashmir had dual citizenship. However, through an amendment created to the Constitution in 2019, the privileges of Jammu and Kashmir have been rescinded. Due to this, Jammu and Kashmir were separated into two parts- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, and both are currently Union Territories.
