Detailed Solution

Symbolic representation of chemical compounds is done by a chemical formula.

For example- NaCl is the chemical formula of sodium chloride and H2SO4 is the chemical formula for sulphuric acid.

After seeing the chemical formula, we can conclude that-In sodium chloride, the composition of Na(sodium) and chlorine(Cl) is equal.

In sulphuric acid,  Hydrogen, Sulphur and Oxygen are present in the 2:1:4 ratio.

Hence, the chemical formula is used for symbolic representation of the composition of the chemical compound.
