Detailed Solution

The Treaty of Constantinople in 1832 recognised Greece as an independent nation. Since the 15th century, Greece had been a part of the Ottoman Empire, and the Greek war of independence started in 1821. The Greek war of independence also helped in the emergence of nationalism in Europe. Many of the western European nations (who had sympathies for the ancient Greek culture) and other nationalists in Greece supported the war of independence. The English poet Lord Byron organised funds, and he went to fight in the war, where he died of fever. Later the Treaty of Constantinople recognised Greece as an independent nation.
