Detailed Solution

Baba Ramchandra was a Sanyasi leader of the Awadh peasants. The Non-Cooperation movement spread from the cities to the countryside. Peasants and tribes struggling after the First World War also participated in this movement. Baba Ramchandra, a Sanyasi, led the movement in Awadh. Earlier, Baba Ramchandra was in Fiji; he was an indentured labourer there. The movement in Awadh was against the taluqdars and landlords who demanded high rents and various cesses from the peasants. In addition, the peasants had to do 'begar' (labour that villagers were forced to do without any payment). Baba Ram Chandra organised farmers in Awadh to fight against these abuses by landlords.
