Detailed Solution

The Begumpuri Mosque was built during the reign of Muhammad bin Tughlaq. Sultans of Delhi were known for building mosques in cities across the subcontinent. These constructions coincided with the fact that they considered themselves the protectors of Islam and Muslims in the region. These mosques also helped create a sense of belonging in the community of believers who shared the same faith and code of conduct. Of these mosques, the Begumpuri mosque was built during Muhammad bin Tughluq and was the main mosque at his new capital in Delhi, Jahanpanah, established in 1326-1327. The Begumpuri mosque also served as a madrasa and an administrative centre.
