1)      The condition of workers before 1905 was very bad. The real wages declined by 20%. Workers formed associations. In the year 1904, 110,000 workers went on strike demanding a reduction in working hours, an increase in wages, and improvement in working conditions.
2)      The Russian society of the early 20th century was based on the differentiation of society into the clergy, nobility, and general masses. In the countryside, the nobility did not enjoy local popularity. Peasants wanted the land to be transferred from nobles to peasants.
3)      The event of Bloody Sunday marked the beginning of the revolution of 1905. A procession led by father Gapon was led to the Winter Palace in January 1905. The police attacked the procession and led to the killing of over 100 workers and wounding of over 300. In wake of this event, strikes were organized all over the country, leading to the Revolution of 1905.
