1)      As majoritarian government actions came one after the other, they made the Sri Lankan Tamils feel increasingly alienated.
2)      They thought that none of the major political parties led by Buddhist Sinhala leaders cared about their language and culture.
3)      They thought that the constitution and government policies didn't give them the same political rights, made it harder for them to get jobs and other opportunities, and didn't care about their needs.
4)      Because of this, tensions between the Sinhala and Tamil groups grew over time. Because the two groups didn't trust each other, there was a lot of conflict leading to a civil war.
