Detailed Solution

Bhopal lake was the largest artificial lake built in the 11th century.
It is also known as Upper Lake. Locally it is referred to as Bhojtal or Bada Talab. It is a big lake on the western outskirts of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh's capital city. It is a crucial drinking water supply, providing about 30 million imperial gallons of water daily to around 40% of the population. Bhojtal is claimed to have been erected by Paramara Raja Bhoj during his reign as monarch of Malwa (1005–1055), according to local legend. He is also supposed to have created the city of Bhopal (then known as Bhojpal) to safeguard his kingdom's eastern frontier. Bhopal city has grown around the lake since it was built in the 11th century.
