Detailed Solution

the reason for calling off the Non-Cooperation movement by Mahatma Gandhi was Chauri-Chaura incident. Mahatma Gandhi called off the Non-Cooperation Movement on 12th February 1922 due to the Chauri-Chaura incident. At Chauri Chaura in the United Provinces' Gorakhpur district, on 4th February 1922, members of the Non-Cooperation Movement turned violent and burnt a police station, resulting in the deaths of roughly 22 police officers and 3 civilians. Gandhi, who was against all forms of violence during the Indian national struggle, harshly opposed this act.
