Detailed Solution

Samudragupta was the ruler of the Gupta Empire who was famous for his various skills in administration and art. The history of the Gupta Empire can be traced with the help of the inscription issued by Samudragupta. This inscription is famously known as the Allahabad pillar instruction, which is presently located in Uttar Pradesh. It was composed by Hari Sena, the court poet of Samudragupta. This inscription mentions the warrior acts of Samudragupta and his territorial extent in the Indian subcontinent. Interestingly, this pillar inscription was inscribed on a previously installed Ashokan pillar nearly 1700 years ago. Before Samudragupta, many other rulers issued inscriptions to convey information to their people.
