The Treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany after its defeat in World War I.
One of the most humiliating treaties imposed on Germany at the end of the First World War was the Treaty of Versailles, which was imposed by the alliance. Germany signed the treaty under the Weimar Republic. The Treaty of Versailles measures was very much harsh on the Germans. Germany was demilitarized, and the Allied powers held Germany for the war damages and had to pay 6 Billion Euros. Moreover, the allied army had taken Rhineland away from the Germans and had captured it for a long time. The Economic loss was also severe; the Germans had lost around 75 per cent of its iron and 25 per cent of its coal mines to countries like Lithuania, France, etc.
