Detailed Solution

Before the age of print in India, manuscripts were written/copied on handmade paper or palm leaves. Until the late nineteenth century, many years after the invention of print, manuscripts were still being produced. However, the manuscripts were costly and delicate. They needed to be handled cautiously. Therefore, the use of texts in daily life was limited. Even though pre-colonial Bengal had established a vast network of local primary schools, children frequently did not read texts and just acquired writing skills.
