Detailed Solution

Severe drought in Maasailand occurred in the year 1933-1934.
Natural calamities like floods and drought affect nomadic life adversely. During the lack or when the rainfall is less, these nomads leave the area as pasture land becomes dry and move to other places in search of green pastureland; otherwise, the survival of their livestock would be in danger and turn their lives also. During the colonial period, the best grazing land was snatched from them; some pastureland was converted for cultivation and into reserves. Maasai were not allowed into this land, and they could not move without a permit. They were confined to a semi-arid area prone to drought. The two severe droughts occurred in 1933 and 1934, in which Maasai lost over half of their castles.
