Detailed Solution

Sodium carbonate is formed if a solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate is heated.
A large amount of carbon dioxide is formed when carbonates and bio-carbonates are heated.
When sodium hydrogen carbonate is heated, sodium carbonate is formed along with the production of water with the liberation of carbon dioxide. In this reaction, sodium bicarbonate dissociates into sodium carbonate with water and liberation of carbon dioxide gas. The balanced chemical reaction is given as,
2NaHCO3    Na2CO3+H2O+CO2.
