When hydrochloric acid reacts with crushed eggshells calcium chloride, water and carbon dioxide is formed.

Crushed eggshells are made up of calcium carbonate. When acid reacts with metal carbonates, formation of metal salts along with water and evolution of carbon dioxide gas takes place. The egg shell containing calcium carbonate gets dissolved in HCl.

The chemical reaction is shown as below:
2HCl + CaCO3  CaCl2 + CO2 + H2O
