The Reign of Terror is the period between 1793 and 1794.
During this time, France was under the rule of Maximilien Robespierre. He followed a policy of extreme control and punishment. First, his government eliminated all those it saw as an enemy. It included ex-nobles, clergy, and opposition, even though the members of his party disagreed with his plans. He made sure to crush all the revolutionaries as well. Moreover, the maximum ceiling on wages and prices, food rations, and fixed costs was also carried out. Finally, he was convicted by the court in July 1794 and was arrested.
