Detailed Solution

Kitagawa Utamaro made a significant contribution to the art form of "ukiyo".
Born in Edo in 1753, Kitagawa Utamaro was well-known for his contributions to the art form known as ukiyo. It was the pictures of the floating world or the portrayal of typical human experiences, particularly urban ones. These prints affected artists like Manet, Monet, and Van Gogh as they travelled to the modern US and Europe. Publishers like Tsutaya Juzaburo chose the themes and hired painters to outline them. The drawing was then put on a woodblock and cut into a printing block by an expert woodblock carver to replicate the painter's lines.
