Detailed Solution

The Chola, Chera and Pandya dynasties flourished in the south between 400 BC to 300 AD. The term 'Tamilakam' is another name for the historic Tamil nation. Three Tamil dynasties ruled over Tamilakam. These three dynasties were the Chola, Chera, and Pandya. The Sangam literature is the main source of knowledge on them. The capital of the Pandyas was Madurai, and their kingdoms were located in sections of Tamil Nadu and along the east coast. Later, the Cholas controlled southern India from their capital Uriyur. The Kaveri river's rich valley served as the Chola's birthplace. Lastly, one of the first Tamil dynasties was the Chera dynasty. They ruled over the southern Indian districts of Salem, Karur, Coimbatore, and the Malabar Coast. Their capital city was Vanji.
