Tapi river flows through the rift valley. The Satpura range to the south and the Vindhya range to the north border the Narmada, which rises on the western edge of the Amarkantak plateau. It forms the Dhuandhar waterfall near Jabalpur and a gorge of marble rocks. It finally meets the Arabian Sea south of Baruch to form a 27-kilometre-long estuary. The Narmada river covers a distance of about 1,312 km and an area of about 98,796 square kilometres.
