Detailed Solution

Red, green, and white were the colours of the ‘Swaraj flag’ designed by Gandhiji in 1921.
The development of nationalism is evident in the formation of icons and symbols presenting the unifying feature of nationalist feelings. For example, aA flag was designed during the swadeshi movement in Bengal. It was a tricolour (red, green, yellow), had eight lotuses and a crescent moon.
Similarly, in 1921, Gandhiji designed a tricolour flag with red, green, and white colours. It also had a spinning wheel in the centre that represented the idea of self-help. The flag became a symbol of nationalism and was carried during marches as a symbol of defiance.
