Detailed Solution

The combination of red, green, and white was the ‘Swaraj flag’ designed by Gandhiji in 1921.
The development of nationalism is evident in the formation of icons and symbols presenting the unifying feature of nationalist feelings. A flag was designed during the Swadeshi Movement in Bengal. It was a tricolour (red, green, yellow) with eight lotuses and a crescent moon. Similarly, in 1921, Gandhiji designed a tricolour flag with red, green, and white colours. It had a spinning wheel in the centre that represented the idea of self-help. The flag became a symbol of nationalism.
