Aluminium is used to manufacture utensils, aircraft, and wires due to its malleability, resistance to corrosion, heat conduction, and lightweight. Bauxite, an oxide of aluminium, is used as a raw material in these industries. It is a very bulky, dark, reddish-colored rock. 4-6 tonnes of bauxite are crushed to dissolve the alumina. India’s bauxite deposits mainly occur in Bilaspur- Katni, Maikal hills, and the Amarkantak plateau.
