Detailed Solution

Van Gujjars are an animal-rearing tribe of Punjab hills. They were tribal groups who depended not only on hunting and gathering for their survival but also on herding and rearing animals. They were pastoralists who moved from one place to another with their livestock according to the season. When the condition of one place does not suit them anymore, like when the grass is exhausted, they move to other sites. Other pastoralist tribes in India were the Gaddis of Kulu, shepherds, and the Bakarwals of Kashmir reared goats.
