High technological development is not a feature of a developing country. The first main characteristic of developing countries is their low per capita income. Such countries suffer from mass poverty and income inequalities. Not many employment opportunities are available in the economy, which forces people to seek gainful employment in the primary sector. That is why a developing country like India is predominantly agriculture-intensive. About 60 to 75 per cent of its population depends on agriculture and allied activities for its livelihood. Developing countries also face the problem of capital deficiency or lack of capital formation, which limits the motives for savings and investments. This is because of low levels of technological development in the economy. Thus, high technological development is not one of the features of a developing country.
