Detailed Solution

PESA Act is not an example of British law in India.
The law was very arbitrary during the colonial era. They did not establish a rule of law where everyone was considered equal before the law. The Sedition Act of 1870 states that any person protesting or criticising the colonial government could be arrested without due trial. According to the Rowlatt act, if anyone is suspected of being involved in terrorist activities, they can be arrested by the British government. This law came into effect in March 1919. The Indian Penal Code was introduced during the British Raj era to provide an extensive penal code for crime in India. The PESA Act of 1996 “gives special powers to the Gram Sabhas in Scheduled Areas.”
