Purvanchal is not the parallel range of the Himalayas. The Shivalik range, the Himachal range, and the Himadri range are the three primary parallel ranges that make up the Himalayas. The Himalayan range also includes the Purvanchal range. The Himalayas, which constitute the Eastern boundary, arc abruptly to the south in the Northeast which, of these three levels, is the highest and is home to the tallest peaks, including Mount Everest.
