Baghelkhand is the eastward extension of the Central Highlands.
The Central highland and the Deccan plateau are the two main divisions of the peninsular plateau. North of the Narmada River and south of the northern plains are where the central highlands are located. From Gujarat to Rajasthan, to West Bengal and some areas of the northeast, there is the central highland. Locally, this plateau's eastern extensions are referred to as the Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand. Towards the west, the Central Highlands are wider; in the east, they are narrower. This region is drained by the Chambal, Sind, Betwa, and Ken rivers.
