The Rigveda, which is the oldest veda, is a compendium of Vedic Sanskrit hymns (sktas) that dates back to ancient India. The earliest texts in any Indo-European language are found in its early strata. Since the second millennium BCE, the Rigveda's sounds and texts have been passed orally. According to philological and linguistic evidence, the majority of the Rigveda Samhita was written in the northwest of the Indian subcontinent, most likely between c. 1500 and 1000 BCE. The Samhita, Brahmanas, Aranyakas, and Upanishads are the layers of the text.
