Detailed Solution

Talc is the softest mineral. Talc, also known as talcum, is a clay mineral. It is composed of hydrated magnesium silicate and often exists in powdered form. Talcum powder can absorb moisture, oils and odours. Due to this property, it is the main ingredient in many cosmetics. It is also used as a lubricant and as a thickening agent. It is not soluble in water but is slightly soluble in dilute mineral acid. Soapstone is a form of talc. It is found in the metamorphic rock of convergent plate boundaries.
