Detailed Solution

The process in which a particular metal is purified is called electrolytic refining. The electrolysis process is used for purifying a metal, during this process to start a chemical reaction of oxidation and reduction current is passed into a solution.

In electrolytic refining, we use cathode and anode. At cathode reduction reaction take place and at anode oxidation take place, 2-strips of metal are taken to purify the metal by electrolysis.
Metal one: Impure metal
Metal strip two: pure metal
The anode is made from impure metal, and a thin strip of pure metal is used at the cathode. During this process, metals ions from anode migrate towards cathode.

Hence, the correct answer is option B.
