In Haryana, India's state, Indian National Lok Dal is a political party. Choudhary Devi Lal founded us in October 1996 as Haryana Lok Dal. The latter served twice as Deputy Prime Minister of India in V.P. Singh's Cabinet and Chief Minister (CM) of Haryana. INLD has performed awfully in all four consecutive general elections held since 1998. In 2005, 2009 and 2013, it lost consecutive assembly elections for Haryana. Its power base is the traditional Jat (peasant caste) heartland in central and west-central Haryana.
