The river is termed Ganga from the Devprayag confluence. The first confluence on the way to Badrinath, Devprayag, is followed by Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandprayag, and Vishnuprayag. River Mandakini originating in Kedarnath joins Alaknanda at Rudraprayag. The river Pindar Ganga and Alaknanda confluence at Karnaprayag. Nandprayag is the meeting point of river Mandakini with Alaknanda.
