The Bharatiya Janata Party was funded by reviving the Bhartiya Jan Sangh. The BJP was founded in 1980. The Bhartiya Janata Sangh, founded in 1951 by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, seeks to build a strong and modern India by drawing inspiration from India's ancient culture and values, as well as resurrecting Dayal Upadhyay's ideas of integral humanism and Antyodaya. Cultural nationalism is an important element in its concept of Indian national wood and politics, which wants full territorial and political integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India, a Uniform Civil Code for all people living in the country, irrespective of religion, and a ban on religious conversion. Its support base increased substantially in the 1990s. Previously limited to the north and west, as well as urban areas, the party has increased its support in the southeast and northeast. It emerged as the largest party with 282 members in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and currently leads the ruling NDA government at the centre.
