The deepest and most land-locked and well-protected port along the east coast is Visakhapatnam.
1)      Visakhapatnam: situated in Andhra Pradesh state, it is a well-protected and deepest landlocked port in our country.
2)      Paradip: situated in Odisha state, exports iron ore.
3)      Chennai: A few of the oldest artificial ports are situated in Tamil Nadu.
4)      Tuticorin: situated in the extreme southeast of Tamil Nadu state. It has a natural harbour, flourishing for handling a large variety of cargoes.
There are 12 major ports; the remaining eight are Jawaharlal Nehru Port, New Mangalore, Kandla, Kochi, Haldia, Marmagao, Mumbai and Kolkata port.
