Detailed Solution

The Kaveri rivers do not constitute the formation of the northern plains. The Northern Plains are formed by the interplay of 3 rivers i.e. The Indus river system, the Ganga river system, and the Brahmaputra river system. Kaveri is a part of the southern river system. The northern plains are formed by the northern rivers which bring alluvium-rich sediments and deposits to the Himalayan foothills. This deposition of sediments created a plain rich in alluvium and a fertile ground for agriculture. The northern plains are the most populated region in India. It is spread over North India in Haryana, Delhi, U.P., Bihar, partly Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
