Detailed Solution

Hunting and Fishing show the relationship between forests and livelihoods. There is a total of six topics that show the relationship between Forests and Livelihoods, these includes:
  • Hunting and fishing: The inhabitants of the woodlands engage in deer, jackal, sambhar, fox, and wild goat hunting for food. For food, they either fish or catch turtles and crabs. They also hunt various birds, including pheasants, chickens, ducks, and geese.
  • Food gathering: The foresters gather fruit, flowers, shoots, roots, and edible leaves. The fruits picked are Jamun, ber, imli, kahal, and mahua. Area to region varies in the sources, branches, and blooms harvested.
  • Making crafts include creating things like ropes, brooms, baskets, and mats. Typically, bamboo and pine are used to make baskets and mats. The woodland inhabitants have access to alternate occupations through these crafts.
  • Animal domestication: In the woodlands, humans raise goats, buffaloes, and cows for their meat and milk. Animals are also utilised for labour in farming. On occasion, domestic animals are offered for sale in markets. They also raise chickens and ducks for their meat and eggs.
  • Agriculture has always been a significant source of income for those living in the forests. The government outlawed shifting cultivation to protect the forest resources. A good side on the mountainous slope is initially chosen for shifting cultivation. To make the area visible, bushes and tiny trees are taken down. The location is left unattended for at least five years after one year of farming to restore the soil's fertility.
  • Exchange Systems: Barter and money exchange are the two most common exchange systems. Meals, ingredients, prepared food, services, and gifts are traded. Most products are purchased and sold in markets using cash.
