Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was an active Hindu Mahasabha member and a part of the interim government. In the cabinet of the interim government of Prime Minister (PM) Jawaharlal Nehru, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee worked as the Minister for Industry and Supply. He was also a politician, lawyer, and professor. He eventually created the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which later evolved into the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1951, with some assistance from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee joined the Hindu Mahasabha in 1939. In 1943, he was chosen to lead the Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha.
