The Axis powers included Nazi Germany, Japan and Italy. They were the countries that wanted to aggressively expand and increase their sphere of influence. Germany under Hitler and Italy under Benito Mussolini wanted to conquer more territories. They also wanted to assert the dominance of Germany and Italy after they were humiliated by the Treaty of Versailles. Japan in the far east too had similar motives and started a military movement against China. All these countries came together and formed several alliances, fighting together during World War II as well.
