Detailed Solution

An electric motor works on the principle that when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and current is passed, then a force acts on the coil and it rotates continuously.
The principle of an electric motor is Electromagnetic Induction. The principle of electromagnetic induction states that “when a current carrying conductor is placed in a varying magnetic field, the flux induces the electromotive force.” The rectangular coil is called an armature. When current passes in the rectangular armature, it creates an eddy current which produces a torque. This torque produces a rotational motion which makes the coil rotate continuously.
