Detailed Solution

The presence of Shikhara was not a feature of an 8th-century south Indian temple. From the seventh through the eighteenth centuries, Hindu temples in modern Madras generally used south Indian temple architecture, also known as the Dravida style. It was distinguished by its pyramidal, or kutina-type, tower. The basic structure of a south Indian temple is a square-chambered sanctuary with a superstructure, tower, or spire above it as well as an associated pillared portico or hall (mandapa) surrounded by a row of columns inside of an oblong court.
